Based on computer modeling, this publication describes herbicide rotation strategies aimed at preventing the buildup of herbicide-resistant grass weeds (downy brome, jointed goatgrass, and wild oat) in rotations that include Clearfield winter wheat. Field experiments were conducted in Oklahoma to quantify the wheat grain yield losses and price discounts resulting from season-long interference with cheat, feral rye, Italian ryegrass, jointed goatgrass, and wild oat. Plots were seeded to individual weeds at one of seven seeding rates, and wheat was planted in all plots at a uniform rate. Maximum weed densities were 89 (cheat), 80 (feral rye.

Invasipedia!   Ryegrass will probably not be such a simple cure. I do not hear growers too worried about jointed goatgrass, but I do hear them extremely worried about annual ryegrass. And based upon the experiences around the world in trying to control annual ryegrass, I think the worry is very much justified.

For example, Clearfield wheat varieties are tolerant of Beyond herbicide. Beyond may be used to selectively control weeds such as jointed goatgrass, rye, and downy brome in Clearfield wheat varieties. Beyond herbicide will kill non-Clearfield wheat varieties. Jointed goatgrass is an invasive winter annual grass weed that is a particular problem in the low to intermediate rainfall zones of the Pacific Northwest (PNW). For the most part, single-component research has been the focus of previous jointed goatgrass studies.

The research covered various topics related to the biology and ecology of jointed goatgrass as well as its management and control in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) production systems.

Jointed goatgrass is a problem weed in winter wheat production areas of the Great Plains. Winter wheat seeding rates are easily adjusted by the growers and influence competition by some weeds.

Each county in Utah may have different priorities regarding specific State designated Noxious Weeds and therefore may reprioritize these weeds as they see fit for their own needs. Invasive plants have been described as "a raging biological wildfire--out of control, and spreading rapidly." Invasive plants pose a threat to our lands that is equal to, if not worse than, wildfire.

It's up to us, the residents of northern Arizona, to protect our home from the scourge of invasive plants. • Jointed Goatgrass (Aegilops cylindrical) • Crested Wheatgrass (Agropyron cristatum) and there is also a comprehensive index at the end of the book to further aid users in locating species.

Weed scientists are facing research problems, such as invasive weeds, that may require multidisciplinary approaches to solve. One example is jointed goatgrass, a winter annual grass invading winter wheat fields and not easily managed with conventional control tactics. A national research program was started in to develop jointed goatgrass management strategies.
